Young Swimmer Scholarship 2025

We’re thrilled to announce the recipients of the 2024/2025 Rene G. Haley Initiative Young Swimmer Scholarship! RGHI awarded two young swimmers free swim lessons for one full year at the Anthony Bowen YMCA in Washington, DC. 

Our young swimmers are Mila Brown, age 4, and Sion Peteros, age 3. 

Special thanks to Donnie Shaw for assisting the RGHI with this effort.

We hope these swimmers fall in love with the water just as Rene did at a young age, discovering confidence, joy, and strength through swimming.

A heartfelt thank you to their families for embracing this opportunity. We look forward to witnessing their growth and celebrating their progress over the years, we are committed to contributing to the next generation of amazing lifeguards!
